August 2009 - Photo Gallery for the last quarter.
| The reason this is a belated catch up on club activities is because the "Web Master" for want of a better classification has a bundle of pretty weak excuses to offer, laziness being the major contributor, so I won't bore you with the others! Needless to say plenty has happened since April so all I've got to do is remember what they were and in the correct chronological order, well maybe not in the correct time frames, so let's see what happens. |
THINGS THAT HAVE HAPPENED SINCE APRIL:
Beach Training.......Special horse pics.......Lights for the Arena.
College Student Riding for Therapy Classes.
July School Holiday programme.............Club "Crazy" Barrel Competition.
Here are just some of the pics supplied of these activities:

LOCAL COLLEGE STUDENTS JOIN OUR RIDING FOR THERAPY CLASSES:
The club runs a regular Friday session for students from the local Paraparaumu College and interest is also being shown by other groups seeking this type of activity where physical benefits can be acheived whilst having fun and building self esteem.
Our riding for therapy and special needs classes are growing steadily, but sadly we are somewhat restricted in our ability to grow this aspect of the clubs activities as volunteers are needed to assist on the days we run the classes. We are extremely grateful to the wonderful helpers we have assisting at the present as they give up their time most generously to help make these days really beneficial and enjoyable for the participants.
This is an area the club is seeking to develop further as it is both rewarding and challenging for all involved.
If you happen to know of anyone who could assist we would be most grateful to hear from you and we can explain exactly what is involved (it's not difficult
and only involves a couple of hours), we'll even supply tea, coffee etc after the class!!!!

JULY SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAMME:
Ruth had this July holiday programme humming and the numbers on most days were full. The kids enjoy the environment, the company of new found friends, the interaction with the farm animals and the totally different surroundings.
It is now very important for those parents wishing their children to participate to book early as numbers have to be limited. It's a great break from holiday boredom for the kids and for those parents struggling to try and keep the kids interested over the holidays...a god send!

The kids enjoy a variety of activities!
The Clubs "Crazy" Barrel competition:
A "Just for the fun of it day" .....the club decided to run a crazy barrel competition inviting all members to try and outdo each other with inventive items using both barrels and a couch. Lyn as usual found the perfect "couch" at the local 2nd hand shop and the barrels were on hand.
Well friends and families were treated to costumes and antics that had to be seen to be believed and the noise had to be heard to be believed as well!!! so much so that we had the local council noise control officer appear halfway through the performances.......oh well some people haven't much else to do on a Saturday afternoon but complain I guess...but we all had a great time.
Charlotte Jordan best costume...
As usual we were also treated to a fantastic lunch and our thanks to all who contributed, excellent effort. Given it was the middle of winter it was just a tad cold but we were blessed with "No Rain" so all in all a fun couple of hours.
The pics below are fun and you can see some real effort was put in by the club members great stuff guys well done. Next time we will try and get some other local clubs etc to try their hand at this?
"Tiny" finds Charlotte red hair quite interesting!

Great performances by all competitors.
And the winners were............Sophia and Eve Couch performance and Eve won the individual performance.
What's on the club's agenda over the next few months?
3rd October The annual "Beer Festival" hosted by those wonderful people up in the "Reikorangi " this is a must for anyone wanting a great night out, excellent entertainment, dancing, great food, and beer and for those who haven't tasted the finest beer in the land, the local Award Winning Brewery "Tuatara" (Club members) will be there to give you the chance to find out why they were choosen as the best New Zealand Brewery 08/09. Tickets will be on sale from 1st September (watch this space)!
October 31st official opening of our arena (at long last) and it's on Halloween day,
Make a diary note.......31st October... this will be fun. We hope to have a real variety of performers to entertain from jugglers, acrobats and of course our own vaulters, plus a surprise performance by our members...but that remains a secret, live band, make sure you come along to make it a success.
KENTUCKY USA 2010 WORLD EQUESTRIAN GAMES: is now a major aim of the club. We want to send a team and ideally one of our own horses to the World Equestrian Games in the USA in 2010. To acheive this there are a multitude of tasks to be undertaken to acheive this goal, not always easy in a club such as ours. There will be a huge effort needed by those who wish to be part of the campaign, but most importantly will be the commitment of the vaulters concerned as really intensive training will be required, remembering it is to represent NZ on the world stage if all goes to plan. This is a massive undertaking but one we feel will be worth the sacrifice and effort that all who become involved will need to make.
I think that is sufficient for the mean time...and you know, I think I may have got the chronological order right!
